The South College General Studies Department appreciates the diversity of learners attending the institution and strives to encourage and enable students with the skills and habits they need to succeed. Through general education courses covering a broad range of subject matter, the General Studies faculty is committed to helping students develop foundational skills that promote successful academic study so that they become life-long learners and independent thinkers.
Administrated by the General Studies Department, the Math Lab provides tutoring to students who wish to improve their math skills. In addition to peer tutors, math faculty members are available to tutor students by email. Sessions are held in Room 323 at the Knoxville Main Campus on Lonas Drive. Under the direction of the General Studies Department, the Writing Lab offers students the opportunity to develop or enhance their written communication skills and receive feedback on course papers and other academic assignments. Services provided by the Writing Lab staff are available by email for online students or those who cannot attend during the Writing Lab’s regular hours.
While this service is primarily utilized by undergraduate students, graduate students are also welcome. The Writing Lab is located in Room 222 at the Knoxville Main Campus on Lonas Drive.
